Today, we take flight to Chiangmai, regarded as "The Rose of Northern Thailand". The representative meeting you at Chiang Mai airport will escort you to the hotel in downtown. Founded in 1296 CE, Chiang Mai is a culturally and historically interesting city, at one time the capital of the ancient Lanna kingdom.Chiang Mai's historical centre is the walled city inside which are more than 30 temples dating back to the founding of the principality, in a combination of Burmese, Sri Lankan and Lanna Thai styles.

Your private tour tour guide will meet you at hotel lobby this morning, then we drive to visit Wat Phra That Doi Suthep located at summit of Doi Suthep which is a mountain west of the city. The temple was built as a Buddhist monastery in 1383 it is still a working monastery today. Near the temple, there is sightseeing platform where we could enjoy panoramic view of Chiang Mai town. Then, we go to visit Bhuping Palace garden which is not far away. The palace was built in 1961 to accommodate the royal family during state visits to Chiang Mai (usually January to March). The rose gardens are particularly famous, with temperate plants grown here that are not commonly found in Thailand. Afterwards, we drive back to city and have lunch.

This afternoon, we' visit Wat Chedi Luang. The temple is home to Chiang Mai’s largest Buddhist chedi built featuring 98 meters tall and 54 meters in diameter. The construction of the orginal chedi was completed in 1481 during the reign of King Mengrai. But the current Chedi Luang is an restoration according to the deconstruction of the chedi in 1545 due to an earthquake. The ordination hall located in the front is also an example of beautiful Lanna architectur e with its serpents are probably one of the most remembered elements. Afterwards, we' ll wander around the old city. Built over 700 years ago, the city was once an entirely walled square surrounded by a moat. In the middle of all four sides of the city are the original gates. The main gate, Thapae, is on the eastern side and facing the river Ping and has been rebuilt complete with a stretch of wall to give people an idea of what the walls were once like. The entrance to Thapae Gate is now pedestrianized. After dinner, we will wander around the night market. Afterwards, we drive back to hotel.
